How To Turn ChatGPT Into Lead Magnet Machine
A prompt for ChatGPT to create you lead magnets

You’ve probably heard this advice before: “Offer a freebie to grow your email list.”
But what kind of freebie actually works?
PDF guides? Ebooks? Templates?
Sure. Those are fine. But let me tell you something that’s both faster to make and surprisingly effective — a one-page cheat sheet.
And you don’t need to write it by yourself. Use ChatGPT.
Let me show you how.
But first, a quick story…

The Pain That Started It All

I used to spend hours creating “lead magnets” that no one downloaded.
Seriously. I’d agonize over every paragraph in my 12-page ebook about productivity hacks… and get maybe five new subscribers in a week.
It sucked.
Then, one night — while trying to quickly brush up on photography settings before a shoot — I typed this into ChatGPT:
“Make me a cheat sheet for manual camera settings. Keep it super short. Just the definitions I need to glance at in under 2 minutes.”
What came back? Gold.
Quick, clear definitions of ISO, shutter speed, aperture — and how they affect each other. In one page.
I used it. It worked.
Then something clicked.
What if I used this same format to help my audience? What if I gave away bite-sized cheat sheets tailored to what they care about — and used that as my lead magnet?
Fast-forward two weeks: I created five one-page cheat sheets using this exact ChatGPT prompt. Uploaded them to Beehiiv. Set them as opt-in freebies. My sign-up rate jumped 3x.
Let me break it all down for you.

Everyone talks about AI, but no one has the time to learn it. So, we found the easiest way to learn AI in as little time as possible: The Rundown AI.

Why Should You Use This Prompt?
Because your readers are busy.
They don’t want a 40-page ebook. They want the good stuff — fast.
A cheat sheet promises clarity. Brevity. No fluff. Just what they need, when they need it.
And ChatGPT? It’s insanely good at distilling complex ideas. Especially if you ask the right way.
This is the prompt I use every time:
“Make me a cheat sheet for [topic] with quick definitions I can review in under 2 minutes.”
Let’s say you’re writing for freelance writers. You might ask for:
“Make me a cheat sheet for freelance writing contracts with quick definitions I can review in under 2 minutes.”
You get something like:
Scope of Work: What you’re doing, and what you’re not doing.
Kill Fee: What you get paid if a project is canceled mid-way.
Net-30: Payment comes 30 days after the invoice date.
That’s all your audience needs to feel smarter instantly. And that’s exactly why they’ll give you their email address.
How to Turn This Into a Lead Magnet (In 10 Minutes)

Here’s how I do it — step by step.
Pick a pain point. What’s one thing your audience struggles to understand quickly? Think about terminology, process, tools, or best practices.
Use the prompt. Drop it into ChatGPT: “Make me a cheat sheet for [pain point] with quick definitions I can review in under 2 minutes.”
Refine it. Ask follow-ups: “Make it more beginner-friendly.” “Add a real-world example to each point.”
Format it cleanly. Use bold titles. Keep it under 15 bullet points. Use spacing. This matters. It needs to look like a cheat sheet.
Export it. Use Canva, Google Docs, or Notion to turn the list into a simple PDF.
Upload it as a freebie. Connect it to your email provider. Label it clearly. For example: “Free Download: The Ultimate Cheat Sheet to [X]”
Promote it. Mention it in your blog, social posts, or newsletter. The more places it appears, the better.
And yes — this really takes less than 10 minutes once you get the hang of it.
What Makes This Work So Well?
It’s all about constraint.
When you tell ChatGPT to keep it short, it prioritizes only the most important stuff.
No filler. No tangents.
Compare that to Googling around for 20 minutes, bouncing between articles and YouTube videos that all say the same thing in slightly different ways.
This is faster. And tailored. And focused.
Plus, cheat sheets feel like secret weapons. They’re like getting the answers on the back of the test.
Your readers love that.
The best cheat sheets don’t just teach — they connect.
Add a tiny personal touch at the top. Like: “I made this for creators who get overwhelmed with pricing their services. It’s the cheat sheet I wish I'd had when I started freelancing.”
Suddenly, it feels like a friend handed them a tool. Not a robot.
That’s the energy you want.
So go make your first one-page cheat sheet. Use it as a lead magnet. And watch your email list grow.
Thanks for reading!
Best,
Miroslav from The Zilahut
